House Budget Includes $15 Million For School Security/ Medicaid Birth Cost Recovery Advances

On Monday, the Wyoming House of Representatives reviewed HB1, the main budget bill for the 2018 budget session. Wyoming’s K12 education funding formula itself (strangely) includes no money for school security, but tucked away in a footnote under the State Construction Department is authorization to spend up to 10 percent of a $149 million school major maintenance fund for “safety and security building and facility needs.”

Meanwhile, HB86 – medicaid birth cost recovery, sponsored by Rep. Clark Stith, R-Rock Springs, squeaked through the House Labor, Health and Social services, on a split 5-4 vote.  The bill now goes to the House Appropriations committe for review.
