Rep. Clark Stith, R-Rock Springs, last week voted for HB 168, stand your ground, and is a listed cosponsor of the bill. The stand your ground bill now goes to the House Judiciary committee, of which Stith is a member. Stith is the prime sponsor of HB 86, Medicaid birth cost recovery, which was approved for introduction by the House on a 49-11 vote and was referred to the House Labor, Health and Social Services committee. Stith’s Medicaid bill would require higher income fathers to reimburse the State for a portion of the State’s expenses in paying for the birth of the father’s child where the mother is an unmarried Medicaid beneficiary. The committee will consider the bill Monday, Feb. 19, 2018. Another bill sponsored by Stith, HB 191- wage garnishment, which would limit bank garnishments of wages to 25% of net pay, also passed the House on introduction 57-2.
